“For apart from inquiry, apart from the praxis, individuals cannot be truly human. Knowledge emerges only through invention and re-invention, through the restless, impatient, continuing, hopeful inquiry human beings pursue in the world, with the world, and with each other.” – Paulo Freire, Pedagogy of the Oppressed
This is a blog about life. It is a blog about the experience of living. It is about the deconstruction of simple pleasures into their core constituent elements (that is, their essence) – and their reassembly into something sublime. It is about the pursuit of happiness as an intellectual exercise and a practical undertaking. It is about my philosophy of everyday existence, summarized as follows: Life is a challenge to be met and conquered; Poverty and simplicity teaches one to appreciate the most basic and universal forms of contentment, and imbues us with a desire to share this with others; Our approach to life should be based on theory and contemplation, translated into practical action (i.e. praxis); and since anything worth doing is worth doing right, commitment to a never half-assed approach to everything one does. Mostly, it is a blog about food and beer.
